Blanket flower question, can I split the plant that I just bought and/or get seeds from it?

This is one of the perennials. And I'd like to divide the plant if I can for to come up next year.

I'd wait until the weather cools, let the flower seed-take those, then divide the plant in October.
Reply:depends on the type plant and size of the basket, generally' yes the thing to look for is at the base of the plant, if it's just one tightly packed group, than when you remove it from the pot, you can usally, gently seperate it into a few groups, by pulling the root ball apart, gently. if it's a basket there are usally several groups and they will come apart real easy, just locate groups and dvide between groups, you can on most perinals take cuttings, new growth off top, remove 3 to 4 nodes down from the top, leave only the leaves on the top two, use root hormone(nurserys carry it), dip first node on bottom of cutting, place in potting soil up to next node, keep moist and in a semi shaded area, about 2 months, best time to do this is in the spring.
Reply:never heard of it
Reply:I would wait to divide untill the spring unless the plant is really healthy. It also depends on the size of the container. A plug or quart may be difficult to divide. I would reccomend propigating from cuttings.. see prev answer, or collect seed this fall, stratify the seeds and start in the spring.
Reply:I wouldn't split it until it is thriving, at least another full season.
