What flowers/seeds are good to alternate with tuilp bulbs?

planted a bunch of tulips and was wondering what was good to alternate with them for summer, once they bloom, and then die back

What flowers/seeds are good to alternate with tuilp bulbs?
Tulips in my garden are planted between daylilies, hostas, and other perennials that come up and hide the dying tulip leaves. If you prefer annuals, you can scatter seeds of marigolds, zinnias, or plant periwinkles or petunias among them for later bnloom. Pansies are pretty planted among tulips; they bloom at the same time and give you a nice color sweep, and when the tulips are done and it gets too hot for the pansies, you can plant other annuals in their place.
Reply:Any one of or combination of Iris, Lilies, Gladiolas etc. will work fine if you are looking for perennials. You might even consider some annuals to fill in the frontage or base of the tulips. Such as pansies, impatients, marigolds etc.

PS. Morning Glories are a climbing vine. Don't plant them in a garden bed.
Reply:Dianthus, columbine, or coral bells with hosta and ferns. Lupins are nice and so are larkspur that come along a little later. Wallflowers and Dutch iris are great, too.
Reply:Day Lilies will grow nicely between your bulbs and come back every year to hide the tulips when they have gone by. Some varieties bloom for several weeks, and the foliage is reasonably attractive the rest of the time.
Reply:Agree with daylilies as good fit...if they get too big for front of bed think about using Stella D'Ora daylilies. They bloom all summer unlike regular daylilies and come on nice compact plant

Another fun plant for bed....dianthus.They are great for front of bed. You can buy 6packs of them at walmart or local greenhouse. They are listed as annual but most come back each year. They come in tons of colors and are so easy to grow. You can plant them amongst tulips and they will flower all summer.
Reply:morning glories are always nice.lavender.lillys,those would be nice choices for summer and they also smell nice.
