I bought a cheap pack of "Butterfly Mixture" flower seeds?

It contains violets, daisies, coreopis plains, gallardia, etc.

How deep in the soil do I plant them?

Will they grow in a fairly shady area?

1/8-1/4 of inch of soil covering them.No more. 1-2 inches is way to deep. When I plant mine I rake out the ground I'm planting them in and the scatter the seed and rake over the seeds. This works really well.Butterfly mix is a sunny seed mix , but will do okay in partial shade. It wont do well at all in full shade. It needs at least 2-3 hours full sun a day. Hope I helped.I have 3 lovely flower gardens and butterflys from June to September.
Reply:Daisies, coreposis and gallardia all prefer full, hot sun. The violets can do part-sun.

Rough up your soil and then smooth it out. Spread seed over soil and then bring up 1/4 inch of soil on top. Pat down and water with a misty stream of water so you don't disturb the seed. Keep the seed damp until you start to see sprouts.
Reply:bury 2-3inches down and some shade is ok...not too much!
