There is flower in my pineapple plant,how can i get the seeds from it?

the pineapple fruit is still small,i wonder if there is a way to gather seeds from it.Is it true that the pineapple can produce seeds only if it's cross polinated by a hummingbird?Someone told me too that if I will cover the fruit with plsatic it will produce seeds,is it true?Thank you.

You will probably not get seeds from your pineapple plant. They need to have a different variety of pineapple for the pollen. However, after your pineapple flower turns to a fruit the mother plant will produce a bunch of 'pups' (little sprouts around the bottom) which you can separate and grow into more pineapple plants.
